A man who laced sweets with tranquilliser and provided them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offenses against two children both nine and ten years old.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight children and an older person experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from that region, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Yet, he denied a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was concerning a nine-year-old child.
The defendant was remanded in custody before a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, described the defendant's actions to the court.
She said his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a youth camp which he operated.
The defendant conducted a "sweet game" with the minors, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to eat sweets "rapidly".
She stated to the judge Ruben had played this game with the boys "over an extended period", and children had previously fallen ill the next day.
She explained the man had been able to explain this for many years as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had worries in recently.
Mrs Prior KC stated further: "This year his stepchild had worries about the situation, justifiably.
"They decided to investigate in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor said objects including infant oil, petroleum jelly and syringes were located, and his stepchild contacted the police about his concerns.
She explained the man went on to conduct the "candy game" with six youngsters that evening - that Saturday - and they were all sick the next day.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that time," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, had stated that it was examining law enforcement's management of the incident.
Mrs Prior stated the minors were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson notified the police once more.
She said Ruben then conducted the "treat game" in a room of five minors.
